At the August Wilson Theater on Broadway in New York, Christian Helm, Chicago's winner, placed second in the Nationals. Furthermore, this win makes Chicago the first city to place in the top three finalists 3 years in a row.

This years competition had 21 students representing 7 cities. A preliminary round was added this year, which eliminated students, but Chicago was the only city to have ALL 3 of its finalist continue on, solidifying us as the team to be beat.

All three Chicago finalist placed in the top 6 out of 15.
